Fun Family Party Games - Having Fun at Family Gatherings

Have you ever been at a family gathering and been bored to tears? Almost everyone can probably answer yes to this question. You would think that you should have a lot of fun with the people you share so much with! There are tons of fun family party games to enjoy at your next gathering. If you are celebrating Christmas, shake up the gift giving by playing Dirty Christmas. Everyone brings a gift, and you do not put your name on it. You place all the gifts on a table, and count them. Number small slips of paper according to how many gifts there are, and place them in a cup. Everyone who brought a gift gets a number, and whoever gets number one goes first. Each one goes in order, and gets to pick a present to open. However, you can also "steal" a present, if you want one that has already been opened. As you might guess, some family members will bring gag gifts, while others will bring nicer gifts. But the "dirty" in dirty Christmas comes from stealing the coveted gift. This is one the classic fun family party games to play (and you do not have to be with family to play it!)

Most families like to get together for each other's birthdays. When someone hits a milestone birthday, it is a lot of fun to talk about when they were younger. If you want to really get to know another family member, while having fun, ask the birthday boy or girl some questions about their early life. (Do this before the party, if possible.) Read the questions to all the party goers, and let them write their answers down. Once you are done, go back and see who has the most correct answers. Give that person a small prize, preferably from the era that the questions were taken from. This game adds some fun to a birthday party, and proves that birthdays are about more than cake and candles.

When thinking about fun family party games, consider bringing board games or card games to your next family gathering. Family members can have a lot of fun with just a regular deck of cards. You might find that Grandma is a regular card shark! If someone has a favorite video game they want to bring, this may add to the family fun as well. Just make sure that the game is age appropriate and family friendly, especially if there will be young children there. And keep in mind that your older family members are not always fans of video games.

With a little creativity and some preparation, you can add some fun to your next family gathering. By playing classic games or new games, you can spend quality time with your family, and maybe learn something about each other. And, you will not find yourself bored to tears when you are with your family.
